  Copy the URL

Sometimes you might want to copy the URL of the page you are looking at.

For example, you might want to put it into an email to send to a friend.

The easiest way to do this is to:

  1. Single click on the URL shown at the top of the browser window. The browser should highlight the entire URL.

  2. Copy the URL to the Windows clipboard. You can do this by typing ctrl-c or by pressing the "copy" button for your browser. The copy button is usually between the "scissors" and the "clipboard" on the button bar and looks like two sheets of paper.

Once you have done this, you have copied the URL onto the Windows clipboard. You can now paste it anywhere you would like.

For example, to paste it into an email, you would

  1. Start the email and position the cursor on the body text part of the email.

  2. Paste the URL from the Windows clipboard into the email. You can do this by typing ctrl-v or by pressing the "paste" button on your browser. The paste button is usually next to the copy button and looks like clipboard with a sheet of paper.

[All of this assumes you are using a version of Windows and a Windows based browser. The specifics will be slightly different if you are using a different operating system.]
