__________0. THOUGHTS

Today was a lazy day for me. The ice and sleet of Dallas has melted and my
steel stairway from my apartment is no longer a candidate for Survivor. My
cat, Spot, was particularly peaceful today, perhaps because over the weekend
she wore herself out with a couple big episodes of the dashes.

So, today's Snippets is small. Just one major item: the new FirstGov site.
Actually, that one site is so large that it is probably good that today has
only one item. Check out the site, and bookmark it.

And, also check out Spot's page:

__________1. QUOTATIONS

When it comes time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with
the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little
more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death
song, and die like a hero going home.
         — Chief Aupumut (1725), Mohican.

We must protect the forests for our children, grandchildren and children yet
to be born. We must protect the forests for those who can't speak for
themselves such as the birds, animals, fish and trees.
         — Qwatsinas (Hereditary Chief edward Moody), Nuxalk Nation

You are your greatest asset. Put your time, effort and money into training,
grooming, and encouraging your greatest asset.
         — Tom Hopkins

Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things
turn out.
         — Art Linkletter (1912 – ), television and radio personality

__________2. EPHeMeRAe

every day interesting “stuff” crosses my desk. Some isn’t important enough
to put on my site in any permanent way. But it is interesting enough to put
there somehow, quickly, at least for a while.

These are ephemerae: collections of temporary, transitory tidbits.

The General Services Administration has created this unified portal for
government services. The first attempt received lots of criticism. The new
FirstGov (early 2002) was redesigned to reduce the number of clicks required
to navigate. You might check it out just to see what is there.
