WebRing.com System Webring Navbars Poetry & Writing (Stack 01) Welcome to my website. I hope that you enjoy your visit here. This webring welcome page hosts navbars for my memberships in WebRing.com webrings.
What Is a WebRing.com System Webring?
The WebRing.com system is the largest and most prominent brand of webring system. It is the direct descendent of the Original WebRing created by Sage Weil. First owned by Starseed, then by Geocities, it was acquired by Yahoo!. In September 2000, Yahoo! assimilated the Original WebRing and replaced it with Yahoo! WebRing. Then on 12.Oct.2001, Yahoo! spun off the system to create the WebRing.com system as an independent webring host. For an extensive list of resources, including more history of the concept of webrings and lots more information about the WebRing.com system, see my section on the WebRing.com system.
Comments for These I have several pages on my site dedicated to my poetry and writing. (See the links below.) After you check out these particular topics, you might like to explore the rest of my site (and get to know me better). I recommend that you start with my "Home" Page. From there the "Front Door" will provide some highlights of the site, information on my navigation scheme and a bevy of graphics for the organizations I belong to and support. Then "Stuff About Me" will provide more info about me than you could possibly want. (I've included all these links in the link list below.) From there, I'd suggest just exploring the various parts of the site as suits your interests.
Special Links for These
Where Are the Navbars? They are at the bottom of the page. They take a bit longer to load. They are at the bottom to permit the rest of the page to load before it stops for that process. Why Are Some Navbar Stacks So Wide? If a ringmaster opts for the default, system generated navbar, then the WebRing.com system makes each navbar wide enough to hold the name of the webring, plus the WebRing.com User ID of the ringmaster (if the ringmaster wants it) plus a picture (if the ringmaster specified one). And, the system sets the navbar so it will be as wide as widest navbar in the stack. If a ringmaster creates custom html, the ringmaster can control this behavior more closely. It is one of the advantages of creating custom html. Where Are James S. Huggins' Webrings? This page shows webrings that I belong to. I have a special page that shows the webrings that I own. As a visitor, I'd like to invite you to take a look at that page and to join whatever webrings make sense for your site.
Are These All the Navbars? Goodness no! I have a wazillion navbars because I belong to a wazillion webrings. Some are in the WebRing.com system. Some are in other systems. I have a convenient index of my webring memberships: just click here to open that page in a new window.
How Can I Find Out More About Webrings? This page is part of an extensive resource section for information about webrings in general and the WebRing.com system in particular. It also features information about the Yahoo! WebRing system, the predecessor of WebRing.com as well as all of the webrings I own and belong to. Just click here to open the home page of that section in a new window. I've also included information about the individual subsections near the bottom of this page. Webring Resources

Webring Sections and Subsections The Webring Section is a large section of my website. I have divided it into four major "subsections".
Each "subsection" has it's own special "logo". As you travel in the various subsections you will find, near the bottom of each page, links to pages within that subsection and also links to the other subsections. To go to any subsection, just click on the "logo" or on the text link for that subsection.
Webrings: General Information This subsection includes general information about webrings. Webrings can be hosted by a variety of different services. This section deals with the overall concepts and issues, not with any one particular "brand" of webring. It includes my Webring FAQ, links to articles about webrings, and general help information. Click here or on the graphic.
The WebRing.com System This subsection includes specific information about the WebRing.com system. While not the only webring system on the net, it is the best known and the most used. I own many webrings in this system and belong to many webrings in this system. (I also own and belong to many webrings in other systems as well.) Click here or on the graphic.
The Wazillion Navbars Project This subsection is a historical section about the Yahoo! WebRing system. It was begun during the early days of problems with the Yahoo! WebRing system in September 2000. It ended when the Yahoo! WebRing system spun off into the independent WebRing.com system in October 2001. I maintain it for the historical record. Click here or on the graphic.
Webrings I Own and Belong To This subsection shows all the webrings I own and links to all the webrings to which I belong. This includes webrings in Ringlink, RingSurf, Bravenet and the WebRing.com system as well. If you are looking to join one of my webrings, this is a good place to start. If you wonder about the webrings I belong to, this is the place to go. Click here or on the graphic. |
