Excelis Grads:
An Email List

I host an email list. It is called Excelis Grads.

Excelis Grads is an email list designed to let graduates from Excelis (a company I once worked for) maintain contact with each other. The list is also open to current employees at Excelis who have not yet "graduated".

Excelis Grads is open and unmoderated.

How to Use the List

We'll be using the list to generally stay in touch, share some humor, share information and leads, and maybe even plan a reunion or two.

As a member of the discussion list you can send email to everyone on the list by just posting once to the list.

And, as a member, you will receive the email posting anytime anyone posts to the list.

To email the list, just address your email to:

Excelis-Grads@Topica.com

However, in order to email the list, you must be a member of the list.

Note: It is not necessary to "register" with Topica to be a member of a Topica mailing list

I host Excelis Grads with Topica.

Some people have hesitated joining Topica mailing lists and email discussion lists because they think it is necessary to "register" [1] with Topica to be on a Topica mailing list. It is not.

These subscription instructions will step you through the process and explain all the details.

How to Subscribe

To get onto the list you must ask. There are several ways to ask:

1. Click on the button below indicating your age. This will give you a form to use to join and will send you an email to confirm your address.
   (NB: This technique does not require Topica registration.
   The instructions will explain as you go through the process.)
    
2. By email. I have a page that explains that process. Just click here to get the email address and the other details.

3. Go to the list page on the Topica Website at
   www.topica.com/lists/Excelis-Grads
   (NB: Free registration with Topica required to use this option)

Similarly, to get off the list you must simply ask. And, again, there are several ways to ask:

1. Send a blank email to

   (NB: Free registration with Topica required)

If All Else Fails

If all else fails, write me at this special email address.:

1. "Registration" refers to giving Topica information such as name, password, gender, birth date and zip code. It is, of course, necessary for Topica to have your email address in order to send the email. But the "registration" of all the other personal information is not required. [back]

COPPA Cabana
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act Information Practices

COPPA (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) requires that websites post "prominent links" to a notice of how they collect, use, and/or disclose "personal information" from children.

In order to subscribe to any of my ezines and mailing lists (e.g.,  Snippets) you must give me your email address (duh!). COPPA considers this "personal information". So, I am posting this notice on this page to comply with that law.

Rather than attempt to obtain parental permission and maintain the wazillions of records required by COPPA, I just don't collect personal data from anyone under 13. If I somehow discover that someone under 13 has subscribed, I unsubscribe that person.
